Situated in southern Burlington County, New Jersey, the east Philadelphia suburb of Moorestown combines big-city access with a charming small-town feel. Moorestown’s quaint downtown is separated from the residential outskirts by scenic woods and bridges that Money Magazine called, “Made for the cover of the Saturday Evening Post.” The vibe is laid-back and peaceful, with many places to unwind. Moorestown Field Club has been a local landmark since 1892, and its public 9-hole golf course and six tennis courts are as popular today as they’ve ever been. More sports facilities are available at Moorestown Tennis Club, which offers instruction and tournaments for both adults and children.

 

The suburban atmosphere and outstanding schools have made Moorestown popular with young families. Moorestown High has been ranked as the best public high school in southern New Jersey, and Moorestown Friends School is one of the region’s best private schools. The space, location, and privacy of Moorestown have attracted many high-profile residents, from star athletes to CEOs.

 

Moorestown Mall is a major commercial destination. The mall’s retail includes name-brand stores and locally-run retailers. Restaurants include Hash House a Go Go’s “twisted farm food,” Firebirds Wood Fired Grill’s upscale steakhouse, and Yard House’s seafood gastropub. There’s also a large movie theater and events throughout the year, such as a springtime butterfly garden and kid-friendly seasonal installations.

Moorestown is surrounded by verdant green space. The 34-acre Boundary Creek National Resource Area is a highlight. This sprawling park’s trails wind through upland and lowland forests and alongside the Rancocas Creek, so it’s a great place to experience nature, whether bird-watching or fishing in the creek.

 

Victorian homes can be found close to Moorestown’s historic center, while the contemporary properties on the east side of the township range from single-family homes to lavish estates. Large mansions are dotted around Moorestown, including Commerce Bank CEO Vernon C. Hill’s incredible 45,000-square-foot hilltop property, which is the largest home in New Jersey.

 

Moorestown residents come together for many community events throughout the year. Most are centered on Main Street, where festivities such as spring’s Daffodil Day, the Halloween Parade, and Winter Carnival fill the streets with life and activity. The signature event is June’s Moorestown Day when live performances and food stalls celebrate the town’s heritage.
